135journals Art Club: Art Trading Cards, part 1

Did you know that Art Trading cards–i.e., tiny pieces of art that are on 2 1/2 by 3 1/2 pieces of cardstock or even collaged onto regular playing cards, are now a Thing? I read about this phenomenon a couple of months ago, and last week I even got to go to a Meetup with some extremely talented artists who showed me some of the different techniques they use to create tiny masterpieces that they create just for fun, to trade with other artists. This tiny size is just right for little experiments–drawings of single objects, designs, collages, quotes, single inspirational words, all kinds of entertainment. These are some of my first experiments with art cards. If you’re at all interested in drawing, or even doodling, consider cutting up some heavy paper (cardstock is available at art stores) into 2 1/2 by 3 1/2 pieces and keeping them in your pocket or pocketbook for those moments when you’re waiting in line, insanely bored by the dinner conversation, etc., and then take out your pen–I assume you have a pen? and sketch, doodle, make a caricature, write a strong word that means something to you and embellish it, decorate a quote you love, or more. I will share more art cards so you can judge for yourself if I get any better!

Writing Prompt: What kind of message would you want to put on a small card to remind yourself of a goal?
